Matt Clough moved to Omaha when he was 22 and worked in manufacturing. He moved to Legislative District 13 in 1985 and loves to serve his community.
Matt has served on the board of the YMCA, as a distinguished president of Kiwanis, and as a teacher at the Hope Center for Kids and the Abide Network. Internationally, he has made volunteer trips to Afghanistan, Serbia, Bosnia, Botswana, and Burundi to teach how reconciliation and teamwork can build a stronger community.
During his career, Matt served in leadership positions with a manufacturing company, an insurance agency, a consulting firm, a hospital, and a large Nebraska State Agency. He continues to mentor young leaders inside and outside his community.
During the Heineman administration, Matt served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Department of Health and Human Services. DHHS touches the lives of every Nebraskan with the goal of protecting and enhancing lives. He was also appointed by the Governor as a Commissioner for Serve Nebraska – an organization dedicated to increasing volunteerism and service in the state.
Matt has three sons; one serves in the Marine Corps, one in the local computer industry, and one in the local trades. His sons attended public schools, private schools, and homeschools, so he has seen firsthand the benefits each type of schooling has to offer. Matt and his wife have 18 grandchildren.
